What is Child Life?
The Child LIfe profession developed in the 1920’s and throughout the years has continued to grow to improve healthcare and difficult life experiences for children. Today, Certified Child Life Specialists are educated and clinically trained in child development, illness and hospitalization, grief and bereavement, and adverse childhood experiences. A Certified Child Life Specialist can help your child ...
"Megan came to my home to teach me infant massage when my daughter was 6-weeks-old. I was struggling with having a new baby who was particularly fussy due to colic. She walked me through all of the stroke sequences, encouraged me, and helped build my confidence in being a mom! After only a few days I could see an improvement in temperament and her sleep cycle improved to sleep 6 hours a night! I would highly recommend Megan. She is super knowledgeable and passionate about child development."
Children and families who are faced with chronic illness, loss, trauma, or adverse life situations can greatly benefit from the support of a Certified Child Life Specialist. At the time of initial consultation, a treatment plan is created utilizing therapeutic modalities such as preparation, medical play, therapeutic art, and instruction of healthy coping skills.
All 1:1 sessions are 60 minutes in length (50 minute session with child/teen and 10 minute debriefing with parent.) These sessions are tailored to your child and family's unique needs.
